Enchanting Nature: Sandy Skoglund at the McNay Art Museum

From September 11, 2025, to February 1, 2026, the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio will host Sandy Skoglund: Enchanting Nature, organized in collaboration with Paci Contemporary Gallery.

Renowned for her meticulous attention to detail, Skoglund creates tableaux using handmade objects, found materials, and live models, resulting in visually striking scenes that explore the relationship between the artificial and the organic.

For the first time, the American artist presents large-scale photographic enlargements drawn from her most iconic installations, Radioactive Cats and Revenge of the Goldfish, alongside the debut of Fresh Hybrid. The exhibition is completed by an installation covering the museum walls with motifs derived from Revenge of the Goldfish (1981), transforming the architecture into an immersive extension of her artistic vision.

The exhibition is accompanied by the book Enchanting Nature by Sandy Skoglund, published by Damiani in collaboration with the McNay Art Museum and Paci Contemporary Gallery. The volume features an interview with the artist conducted by Laura van Straaten and photographic documentation of the works on display, providing a valuable insight into Skoglund’s practice.
