Pieter Henket

Pieter Henket is a Dutch photographer who lives and works between New York and Europe. His visual language draws inspiration from seventeenth-century painting. Among his most notable projects is Congo Tales, a work created in collaboration with Congolese communities in which photography and myth intertwine, as well as the publications The Way I See It (2013) and Stars to the Sun (2014). Alongside these projects, Henket is widely recognized for his portraits of public figures from the worlds of music, art, and entertainment, including the iconic cover of Lady Gaga’s debut album, The Fame. His work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum de Fundatie in the Netherlands, and Museum Barberini in Germany, and is held in numerous collections worldwide, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
