James Moore
After studying with the legendary art director Alexey Brodovitch, James Moore (1936–2007) began working for Harper’s Bazaar in 1962. From the 1970s to the mid-1990s, Moore directed television commercials for Clairol, Cover Girl, and others, as well as working as a photographer. In the 1980s, he shot the majority of the covers for the Italian edition of Harper’s Bazaar. Moore taught photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and lectured at the Smithsonian Institution as well as at the Rochester Institute of Photography. In 2004, a retrospective of his work was exhibited at the Carla Sozzani Gallery in Milan.
